Migros has completed the sales process for the Globus department stores. The new owners are Signa Holding, owned by Austrian entrepreneur René Benko, and Central Group from Thailand, each with 50%.

The parties announced Tuesday morning that the deal includes the Swiss Magazine zum Globus AG and eight associated properties in top city center locations, which are being sold by the Migros-Genossenschafts-Bund (MGB). Together with Globus and Signa and Central Group's locations in Germany, Italy, Denmark and, in the future, Austria, the group aims to become a leading operator and owner of luxury department stores in Europe.

The signing of the transaction has reportedly taken place. The final acquisition is subject to the approval of the European competition authorities and is expected to be completed by mid-2020.

Last week, various media had already reported that the sale of Globus was signed and sealed. The purchase price is said to be one billion CHF, most of which is to be paid for the real estate. However, this sum has not been confirmed.

CBRE and Alantra were exclusive transaction advisors to Migros. (ah)
