Landquart Fashion Outlet said it increased brand sales by 10% year-on-year last year for the fifth year in a row. Visitor numbers grew by 9% compared to the previous year.

The growth in sales sets the outlet center apart from the Swiss retail trade, which in the corresponding period recorded a slight decline in the non-food sector and even 4.5% less sales in the clothing and footwear product category.

There have been a number of new openings at Landquart Fashion Outlet in the past year, including Camp David, Arc'teryx, Jack & Jones, Rossignol and Geox, so store rental space is now at 98% capacity, according to the center.

Center Director Mathias Bommer attributes the good result to the increased importance of outlets in the retail market: "Outlets are now an essential part of the sales strategy of successful brands. More and more suppliers have recognized the potential of outlet centers as a good source of revenue and are using the channel to reach new customer segments and open up new markets."

The Landquart Fashion Outlet is part of Via Outlets. The company owns and operates eleven premium outlets in high-traffic locations in nine countries. In 2019, Via Outlets increased total sales by 8.4% to a total of 1.16 billion euros (1.23 billion CHF). Customer footfall increased by 6.1% to over 32 million. (ah)
