The new shop concept is based on the Migrolino model and is optimised for very small locations of less than 80 square metres, according to Migros.

A first Mio location was opened at the end of July 2020 at the Shell filling station Limmatbrücke on Überlandstrasse in Fahrweid near Dietikon- Further shops are to be implemented at Shell filling stations in Staad on Lake Constance and in Bern at the Wankdorf Stadium. Between the beginning of 2021 and the end of 2022, Migrolino plans to convert all Shell Select locations to the new concept, and individual Migrolino locations are also to become Mio shops.

The new concept is intended to fill the gap between convenience shops and kiosk formats and, in particular, to sell items for immediate consumption, such as sandwiches, drinks and snacks.

Migrolino AG, a subsidiary of the Federation of Migros Cooperatives, operates shops at over 320 locations nationwide - either with franchise partners as standalones or at service stations with partners such as Shell, Socar or Piccadilly.  (ah)
