Implenia wins major contract in Sweden
Implenia has won a major infrastructure contract in Sweden with a total volume of CHF 235 million. On the outskirts of the capital Stockholm, a new north-south link is being built in the form of the "Förbifart Stockholm" city bypass. In the race for a first construction phase, lot FSE 403, Implenia prevailed against four competitors.

The contract includes the execution and partial planning of the project. According to the company, it is the first Implenia project to come about thanks to the acquisition of Bilfinger Construction.
The section won by Implenia comprises the two three-lane main tubes of the Johannelund Tunnel with a total length of 7.2 kilometers. The contract also includes four single-lane access and exit ramps, four access tunnels, several cross tunnels, and power and ventilation stations. The lot is the first of six tunnel contracts to be awarded in connection with the bypass road.
In total, the bypass comprises 21 kilometers of highway, 17 kilometers of which run at a depth of up to 70 meters. The Swedish Transport Administration expects the investment to total the equivalent of around CHF 3.1 billion. Construction work on Lot FSE 403 will start in October 2015. After a construction period of around six years, the Johannelund Tunnel will be opened to traffic. (ah)
