Implenia secures major contract in Germany
Implenia has won a contract worth 380 million euros from Deutsche Bahn AG. The construction company is building the Albvorland Tunnel section of the new Wendlingen-Ulm line, part of the major Stuttgart 21 project and the new Stuttgart-Ulm line.

More than half of the route between Wendlingen and Ulm runs in tunnels. The largest underground section is the Albvorland Tunnel, which comprises two tunnel tubes around eight kilometers long with a diameter of around eleven meters.
The construction lot also includes a connection to the Stuttgart-Tübingen rail line (Kleine Wendlinger Kurve) and a freight train connection. Both are being built at the western portal of the Albvorland Tunnel. The so-called freight train link, two single-track tunnels around 170 meters in length, will connect to the existing Neckar Valley railroad. Preparatory work will start as early as the beginning of January 2016, and construction of the main construction measures is scheduled to begin in summer 2016. (ah)
