Interview with Remo Hägni

Cleaning companies are faced with the situation of having to adapt their processes to constantly increasing cost pressure. Unfortunately, this is happening in many places at the expense of cleaning staff and cleanliness. Dumping prices require cutbacks in quality.

One of your company's specialties is stone finishing. What do you mean by this?

Floors made of natural stone often do not become "clean" despite cleaning. The reason is the mechanical stress, which leaves its mark over time. Natural stone is a living natural product whose care requires special know-how. This includes cleaning, grinding, polishing, crystallizing and impregnating. Over the years, we have acquired recognized expertise in this field and are now one of the largest stone finishers in Switzerland.

Does this also apply to facades?

Cleaning a natural stone facade is not the same as a floor. The stress is different. Aggressive substances can form from the dirt and attack the facade. As a certified facade cleaner, we clean all types of facades: Metal, glass, concrete, plaster and Eternit. We have just introduced a new system that allows facades to be cleaned one hundred percent ecologically using mineral-free water. And this can be done up to a working height of 18 meters without a lifting platform or scaffolding. That makes the whole thing more cost-effective.

Another of your specialties is elevator cleaning. I guess that also involves more than just damp mopping?

Yes, as a certified elevator cleaner for lift manufacturers, we are able to put lift systems into operation or out of operation without the need for a service technician. This saves customers money. By working closely with lift manufacturers, we can also repair minor defects immediately or identify and report major problems.
