Schroders: Andreas Markwalder becomes Country Head Switzerland
Andreas Markwalder will become Country Head of Switzerland at Schroders as of January 3, 2017. He joins from GastroSocial, where he is currently responsible for operations as CEO.
GastroSocial is the largest pension fund in Switzerland in terms of the number of members, with 6.3 billion CHF in assets under management. Previously, Markwalder was Head Asset Management and CIO at GastroSocial since 2000, responsible for asset management and real estate/mortgages.
Markwalder will work from Zurich and report to John Troiano, Global Head of Distribution at Schroders. He succeeds Stephen Mills, who has been Country Head Switzerland since the 1990s. Mills, in turn, will become chairman of Schroder Investment Management (Switzerland) AG. Serge Ledermann, most recently Head of Asset Management Switzerland at Bank J. Safra Sarasin, has been appointed as his deputy in this position. (ah)
