Swiss Life AM: Renato Piffaretti appointed Head Real Estate Switzerland
Renato Piffaretti has been appointed Head of Real Estate Switzerland at Swiss Life Asset Managers. He will take up his position in the course of the first half of 2017 and report directly to Stefan Mächler, Chief Investment Officer of the Swiss Life Group.
In his new role, Renato Piffaretti will be responsible for the further development and implementation of Swiss Life Asset Managers' real estate strategy in Switzerland, the company says. He is expected to focus on expanding the insurance portfolio and growing the national and cross-border real estate business for investment fund and investment foundation clients in Switzerland. Swiss Life says it owns the largest privately held real estate portfolio in Switzerland, totaling CHF 20 billion as of June 30, 2016.
Piffaretti joins Swiss Life Asset Managers from Basler Insurance, where he has been head of real estate since April 2013. Prior to that, he spent 13 years with UBS Global Asset Management's global real estate division, serving as fund manager for UBS (CH) Property Fund - Swiss Mixed "Sima" between 2006 and 2013. Before joining UBS, Piffaretti worked as a team leader and project manager in various architectural firms. He holds a master's degree in real estate management from IFZ in Zug. (ah)
