Implenia takes over Bilfinger Hochbau
Implenia is expanding its market position in Germany. The company acquires Bilfinger Hochbau, thus securing access to a new customer base in Germany.

Implenia is acquiring Bilfinger Hochbau from the German real estate services provider Apleona. The company currently has an output volume of around €450 million (approx. CHF 500 million) with 1,000 employees and operates almost exclusively in the German market. Bilfinger Hochbau provides services ranging from design to turnkey buildings and has expertise in construction site logistics, cold storage construction and facade technology. In addition, Bilfinger Hochbau has many years of experience in the use of BIM.
The acquisition strengthens Implenia's market position in Germany and gives it the opportunity to significantly expand its floor-space business in one fell swoop, according to the construction group. It goes on to say that the transaction is "a significant step towards achieving critical mass in Europe's largest construction market". Implenia gains access to an attractive and long-standing customer portfolio.
Acquisition to be completed in spring 2017
The amount of the purchase price is not known. The transaction is still subject to approval by the competition authorities. Closing is scheduled for the period between the beginning of February and the end of April 2017.
Bilfinger Hochbau is part of Bilfinger's former Building and Facility segment, which was acquired by Swedish financial investor EQT from Bilfinger in the summer and is now active on the market under the name Apleona. Following the separation, Apleona intends to further expand its real estate services business in Europe. Not for sale were the building construction activities Wolfferts Gebäudetechnik, R&M Ausbau and Bauperformance, which are part of Apleona's service portfolio.
This is not the first time that Implenia has acquired parts of the former Bilfinger construction group. At the beginning of 2015, Implenia had already acquired Bilfinger SE's infrastructure division, Bilfinger Construction. (ah)
