Helvetia joins MoneyPark
Helvetia acquires a majority stake in the mortgage broker MoneyPark. In doing so, the insurer is entering a new business segment and driving forward its digitalization.
Helvetia Group is acquiring 70 percent of Switzerland's largest mortgage broker MoneyPark. The insurer acquired the shares of the FinTech company for a total price of CHF 107 million. In addition to the other existing shareholders, the founders and the media group Tamedia will retain a stake of around 20 percent in the company. MoneyPark will continue to be managed as an independent company and will not be integrated into Helvetia. The management team around Stefan Heitmann will continue to run the company as a united front.
With the majority stake, Helvetia is investing in a new business model and driving forward digitalization, writes Helvetia in a media release. At the same time, the company wants to use MoneyPark to create "a first strong anchor for the development of an eco-system on the topic of 'Home'", it continues.
New source of revenue and new customer access
"Not only does this open up a completely new source of revenue, it also gives us new access to customers and a broader range of products and services," says Philipp Gmür, Group CEO of Helvetia. "In particular, however, the acquisition is also an important step towards digitalization and greater customer centricity as part of our helvetia 20.20 strategy. " In this way, Helvetia intends to benefit from the IT platform and efficient advisory and sales processes in connection with mortgages.
MoneyPark was founded in 2012 and has quickly established itself as the largest mortgage broker on the Swiss market with its business model as a technology-based, independent intermediary. The company combines an online platform and personal advice: credit criteria from more than 70 financing partners are stored on a web-based platform, allowing a reliable comparison of interest rate conditions. Personal advice is provided in one of the 20 branches throughout Switzerland or via video.
MoneyPark also now offers the first online mortgage marketplace for follow-up financing in Switzerland. The company also provides advice on pension issues. It offers robo-advisor solutions in investment topics and, in the future, also real estate-related property insurance. (ah)
