H'Otello also wants to expand into Switzerland

The Munich-based hotel group H'Otello wants to push ahead with its expansion course and is planning further locations in the DACH region. Zurich is also being targeted.

H'Otello currently has four properties in Germany, located in Berlin (one) and Munich (three). In addition to two new properties already planned in Cologne and Munich, other locations are to follow. "We are also exploring Hamburg and Frankfurt. Both locations are conceivable," says Michael Gerlach, chief executive of the hotel brand. The targeted new properties would cover the "Big Five" in Germany, the five most important national hotel locations, Gerlach says.

But H'Otello is also looking beyond national borders, he explains. "The urge and the dynamics are there to take the step into other European countries. We could also imagine H'Otello in Vienna or Zurich," says Gerlach, who coined the concept for the hotels, which have an average of around 80 rooms, for business travelers and individual tourists in central city locations. According to Gerlach, the proportion of regular guests at the H'Otello properties averages 80 percent. The exact locations for the planned hotels in Vienna and Zurich have not yet been determined.
