SV Group brings Marriott hotel to Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany
Volksbank Freiburg has signed a lease for its planned new building on Bismarckallee in Freiburg, Germany, with Swiss-based SV Hotel, which works in a franchise partnership with Marriott International.
A 156-room Courtyard by Marriott hotel will be built on the Volksbank site opposite Freiburg's main train station and will be operated by SV Hotel, a member of the SV Group. The company already operates three Courtyard hotels in Munich, Zurich and Basel. "We are very pleased to now launch another Courtyard in Freiburg after the positive experiences with our three Courtyard hotels," says Beat Kuhn, managing director of SV Hotel. Construction is scheduled to start in the first half of 2018 on the Volksbank site for the building project designed by Hadi Teherani Architects, which will include office, retail and hotel space. The first guests should be able to check into the new hotel in the course of 2021.
The Swiss catering and hotel management group with its five business segments of mass catering, home and hospital catering, event catering, public catering and hotel is headquartered in Dübendorf in the canton of Zurich. As a Marriott franchisee, SV Hotel operates the Marriott brands Courtyard, Residence Inn, Renaissance and Moxy in Switzerland and Germany. It also manages "La Pergola" in Bern. Eight other hotel projects are currently in the planning stage: Moxy Hotels in Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Lausanne and Bern, and two brands each (Moxy and Residence Inn) in Munich and Frankfurt am Main. The openings will take place over the next three years.
