Reka plans hotel chain
According to media reports, the Swiss travel fund Reka, which has so far mainly operated vacation villages, wants to build up several hotels in Switzerland.
As reported by the "SonntagsZeitung", the Reka cooperative is currently working on a concept that is being tested in the company's only hotel in Ticino so far: In the house, good standard is offered at a low basic price, further services can be booked in addition. After the test phase, a decision will be made on further Reka hotels. Reka is not aiming for a star categorization, but the hotels of the cooperative would probably compete with two- and three-star hotels, it is said. According to Hotelleriesuisse President Andreas Züllig, there is potential for the established Reka brand, a provider with a good price-performance ratio, "especially in the mid-price segment in Switzerland. The Reka cooperative is considered the leading landlord of vacation apartments for families and the second largest Swiss provider of vacation apartments, camping accommodation and hotels in Switzerland and abroad. Reka currently operates twelve Swiss vacation villages and one Reka resort in Tuscany.
