Priora FM's main customer is Geneva Airport, and it also provides services for various companies at Zurich Airport. With the acquisition, which will take effect on May 28, 2018, Engie is thus further expanding its FM business with airports in particular.

"Given a doubling of passenger numbers by 2036 (IATA 2017) and the associated expansion of infrastructure, airports offer great potential," an Engie statement said. In 2017, the group generated global sales of €300 million (about CHF345 million) from more than 40 airports around the world, including Changi in Singapore, Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Paris Orly in France, Amsterdam Schipol in the Netherlands, Brussels in Belgium and Montreal Trudeau in Canada.

"We want to strongly expand our service business in Switzerland, and the acquisition of Priora FM SA brings us a big step closer to this strategic goal," says Wolfgang Schwarzenbacher, CEO of Engie Services AG.

Priora FM, based in Geneva, was founded in 1970 by the then Swissair to manage its real estate under the name Avireal. In 2005, the company became part of the Priora Group. In addition to the mandates around the airports of Geneva and Zurich, the approximately 200 employees also look after customers in the fields of industry, IT, telecoms or tourism.

Engie has a presence in Switzerland at more than 20 locations and employs over 1,600 people (including Minerg Appelsa) who design, install and operate buildings and facilities.
