Swiss Life Asset Managers recently acquired a project in a central location in Locarno. As part of a neighborhood development with a total of 12 high-rise buildings, the company will build four residential towers and a central block with a total of 160 apartments and commercial space within walking distance (5 minutes) of Locarno's Piazza Grande and Lido. Various commercial uses are planned for the first floors of the five buildings - from doctors' offices to services and stores for daily needs to administrative units. There will be a total of 1,900 square meters of commercial space. The upper floors are reserved exclusively for residential use; 64 2 1/2-room apartments, 44 3 1/2-room apartments and 16 4 1/2-room apartments are planned. Fifty percent of these apartments are permitted as second homes. Parking will be available in an underground garage. Construction will begin in October 2018, with an anticipated move-in date of March 2021.
