Easyhotel is already present in this country with two hotels - one each in Basel and Zurich - and is now set to expand. According to a report by the industry portal Travelnews.ch three new houses are planned in Zurich in the next 14 months. The building applications are still pending, so the company is not giving any details about the exact locations and opening dates. However, all new locations are expected to be open by the end of 2019. The five Easyhotels in Switzerland will have a total of 174 rooms and will be operated by a Swiss franchisee, the report added.

Easyhotel is part of Easygroup Holdings, owned by British entrepreneur Stelios Haji-Ioannou. The holding also includes the low-cost airline Easyjet. The hotel chain currently operates 28 properties in eight countries, most of them in Europe. In addition to Zurich, Easyhotel also plans to expand in Barcelona and Lisbon, with further properties also planned in the UK. (ah)
