Jan Tanner takes over leadership of the Shopping Center Forum

Jan Tanner will assume responsibility for the Shopping Center Forums Switzerland trade congress, which will take place on May 9.

According to the Shopping Center Forum, Board of Directors Dr. Olaf Marks and Jan Tanner have agreed that Tanner will once again assume responsibility for the renowned trade congress, effective May 1, 2019. Tanner was president and founding member of the Swiss Council of Shopping Centers (SCSC) from 2011 until the end of 2017 and founder of the Shopping Center Forum, which has been held annually in Zurich since 2008.

Marks will continue to serve the Forum in an advisory capacity, Mike Neuhaus will remain Congress Director and Michele Stasolla is Congress Manager.

The 50-year-old Tanner is considered one of the most recognized experts for shopping center and district developments in Switzerland. He was Head of Real Estate Western Switzerland at Mobimo until the end of 2018; in the process, he set up a neighborhood management system for the Quartier du Flon in Lausanne and supported it as manager for four years. He remains associated with Mobimo as a consultant.

From 2009 to 2014, Tanner worked for ECE in Hamburg and was its branch manager for Switzerland. During this time, he served as center manager of Stücki Shopping Basel and was responsible for Westside in Bern during the pre-opening phase.

Starting in May, Tanner will work as a consultant for companies in the shopping center, retail real estate and retail industries. He will be able to draw on the structure of the crbasel advertising agency with 18 employees, whose management Tanner will take over at the beginning of May, the Shopping Center Forum statement continues.
