LUPK appoints Lorenz Wüthrich as Head of Real Estate
On November 1, 2019, Lorenz Wüthrich will take up his new post as Head of Real Estate at the Lucerne Pension Fund LUPK. He succeeds LUPK Managing Director Reto Tarreghetta, who has been heading the division on an interim basis.
The board of the Lucerne Pension Fund LUPK has appointed Lorenz Wüthrich as the new head of real estate. Wüthrich (41), an architect with a degree from ETH Zurich and a real estate appraiser with a federal certificate, will take up his post on November 1, 2019, thus completing the LUPK Executive Board, which is made up of the Managing Director and the heads of the Insurance, Finance, Securities Investments and Real Estate departments.
After graduating in 2004, Wüthrich started his professional career as an architect, project manager and construction manager at Merkli Architekten ETH/SIA, Zurich. In 2010, he joined Wüest Partner AG, Zurich, where he served investors and institutional investors as a senior consultant and member of the extended management team. Since 2015, he has been working as Real Estate Portfolio Manager at Swiss Life Asset Management AG, Zurich, where he is team leader in charge of a real estate portfolio in German-speaking Switzerland worth several billion Swiss francs.
"LUPK is pleased to have Mr. Wüthrich, a proven expert, as Head of Real Estate," says Reto Tarreghetta. "There are currently major projects in the planning or realization stage, and his experience and expertise will be of great importance to LUPK."
LUPK manages pension assets of more than CHF 7.8 billion. With a share of more than 25% and a portfolio value of around 2 billion, real estate is a central component of the LUPK's investment strategy and has significantly supported and stabilized the performance of the pension fund's assets under management in recent years. The majority of the real estate portfolio consists of direct real estate investments, which are primarily managed by the LUPK itself. (bw)
