Implenia partially closes construction sites
Implenia is restricting work on construction sites in several countries and is closing some sites completely. The reason is official orders due to the outbreak of the new coronavirus.

According to a statement from Implenia, the measures taken by authorities across Europe to contain the spread of the coronavirus are also having an impact on operations. There are restrictions on construction site operations in Switzerland, Germany, France and Austria. In Sweden and Norway, operations on the construction sites are running normally until further notice.
In the canton of Geneva, construction sites were closed by the authorities. In the canton of Ticino, there were some closures because subcontractors could no longer work or cross-border workers could no longer enter the country, Implenia said. In the other cantons, work is continuing on the construction sites, but in some cases delays are occurring due to problems with subcontractors and suppliers. The situation is similar in Germany and Austria, where work is also being carried out on construction sites, but in some cases there are delays caused by subcontractors and suppliers. In France, all construction sites will cease operations for 15 days at the end of this week. An extension of this suspension is to be expected, says Implenia.
In its statement, the construction company emphasizes that it is complying with official recommendations and directives as well as its own necessary precautionary measures. At the same time, it is endeavoring to maintain day-to-day business, including construction production, as far as and where possible. Contractually agreed deadlines are to be met whenever possible and reasonable. Where there are restrictions on construction site operations or site closures for health reasons, the necessary measures will be examined to limit the economic damage.
Implenia recently won a major contract in Germany: The German state of Bavaria has commissioned the bidding consortium Implenia - Fahrner Bauunternehmung to build the connection of the new B15 federal road to the A92 freeway near Landshut. Implenia in Munich will take over the technical and commercial management and provide the project manager, the company says. The total contract volume amounts to 63 million euros. Implenia's share is a gross contract volume of around 52 million euros or CHF 56 million.
According to Implenia, the construction of the junction is technically very complex, as the undercrossing of the A92 by the B15 neu lies completely in groundwater and a groundwater sump with a length of 970 meters has to be specially constructed. This would be a "cloverleaf" completely in the groundwater. Construction was scheduled to start in April 2020. (ah)
