SBB wants to locate coworking spaces in regional stations
SBB and the Village Office cooperative plan to set up coworking spaces in 60 to 80 small and medium-sized train stations over the next few years.

The goal is to establish a nationwide coworking network by 2030, according to an SBB statement. Every person in Switzerland should be able to reach their place of work within 15 minutes by bike or public transport.
As part of the strategic partnership agreed between SBB and Village Office, up to 80 coworking spaces are to be created in smaller and medium-sized regional train stations over the next five to eight years. This will bring work back to the places where people live, prevent long commutes, relieve traffic congestion during rush hours and revitalize station buildings that are no longer needed for rail operations, according to SBB.
According to the press release, the buildings will also be used by local clubs, senior citizens' groups or for childcare at a lunch table. Other conceivable uses include small restaurants, a neighborhood meeting place, a pick-up point or a home delivery service. This has been tested with a pilot project, the "Schalthalle" in Eglisau, and the offer will now be implemented across the board. (ah)
