St. Gallen: Start of construction for Waldacker development
Since February 2020, the "Waldacker" project has been taking shape in the Lachen neighborhood of the city of St. Gallen. At the beginning of August, Previs Vorsorge laid the official foundation stone for the residential development made of wood and recycled concrete.

Since February 2020, a modern, future-oriented residential area of Previs Vorsorge has been under construction in the west of St. Gallen. The "Waldacker" development consists of two buildings with a total of 110 rental apartments. According to the company, certified wood and recycled concrete will be used as construction materials for the two buildings, thus complying with the criteria of the Standard for Sustainable Building (SNBS). Thanks to prefabricated building elements, the construction period will be shortened and occupation will be possible as early as fall 2021.
According to the information, the buildings are characterized by high architectural quality. The apartment mix is broad, ranging from studios to 5.5-room apartments, all of which are accessed via arcades. All apartments are equipped with a smart home system, which allows the user to monitor his own energy consumption in real time. The development complies with the Minergie construction method (solar power system on the roof, heating by means of district heating from 75% renewable energy). There are also underground parking spaces and a car-sharing service, including charging stations for electric cars.
Between the two long rows of buildings facing each other, a park-like meeting zone will be created, offering a view of the almost 200-year-old wooden "Tröckneturm" tower. Between the two buildings, a green area is being created that will contribute to biodiversity with bird houses and insect hotels. The development is directly connected to public transport, kindergarten, schools and shopping facilities can be reached on foot. (bw)
