Espace Real Estate: Support for tenants in the Corona crisis

During the lockdown period, Espace Real Estate has granted rent deferrals and discounts to commercial tenants. The company is making storage space available free of charge to Tell-Tex, a collector of used clothing, until the end of the year.

The Corona crisis is also causing a lot of trouble for the large Swiss used clothing collectors. With the lockdown, home office and short-time work, the population suddenly had a lot of time to clean out everything from the cellar to the attic.

"The Covid 19 crisis has completely 'turned upside down' the used clothing industry," says Roland Tegtmeyer of Tell-Tex in Safenwil, which together with Texaid dominates the Swiss used clothing market. Within two months, 3,000 tons more than usual were collected in Switzerland. The collection system is on the verge of collapse with such volumes.

Espace Real Estate, the owners of the office and commercial property where Tell-Tex has rented space for many years, reacted quickly to the new situation. Lars Egger, CEO of the Solothurn-based real estate company: "We have provided Tell-Tex with storage space on Nordstrasse in Luterbach free of charge until the end of the year. Active support for our tenants in exceptional situations such as the Corona crisis is a matter of course for us."

In addition, Espace Real Estate supported tenants during the lockdown phase who were directly affected because they could no longer serve customers. The company provided rent deferrals and discounts to service businesses such as hairdressers and fitness centers, as well as event companies and restaurants. "When the lockdown became apparent, we approached our tenants and assured them of help in an uncomplicated and unbureaucratic manner," says Lars Egger. (bw)
