BEKB participates in Swiss Immo Lab

The Bernese cantonal bank BEKB is joining the investment company Swiss Immo Lab AG. The company invests in proptech start-ups.

Swiss Immo Lab AG was founded at the end of 2019 by real estate service provider Avobis, Hypothekarbank Lenzburg and Gebäudeversicherung Bern. Now the Bernese Cantonal Bank BEKB is joining as a fourth partner.

Swiss Immo Lab aims to drive the digital transformation of the Swiss construction and real estate industry by investing in prop and FinTech startups while linking established companies from the construction and real estate industry with startups.

The four partners have committed a total of CHF 8 million, which Swiss Immo Lab will invest in start-up projects over the next two years. According to BEKB, the focus is on companies that develop innovative business models in the areas of digital marketplaces, real estate management, construction, building materials, analytics software or smart cities. Initial investments are to be made this year. In a later phase, Swiss Immo Lab is to become a larger platform in which other institutional investors can participate. (ah)
