New standards in sustainability

With Zirkulit, Eberhard Unternehmungen is launching Switzerland's first circular concrete, the latest generation of sustainable concrete with minimal use of primary resources. The future-oriented building material is being used for the first time in the new building of Swiss Prime Site Immobilien AG on the JED site in Schlieren.

According to Eberhard, the formulation is characterized by the highest possible proportion of secondary raw materials and thus guarantees maximum circularity. In addition, a new storage technology reduces the CO2 footprint of the zirkulit concrete. Despite the significant savings in resources, the zirkulit concrete has identical structural properties to a primary concrete and can be used for the entire house. The finite primary resources of sand and gravel can thus be conserved. The client receives a sustainable building structure that sets new standards.

Zirkulit will be available from next spring 2021. Swiss Prime Site Immobilien (SPS) will be the first building owner to use the new building material in its JED (Join. Explore. Dare.) project in Schlieren. According to SPS, the innovative building material from Eberhard will enable the new building on the JED site, which is already designed for sustainability, to be even more strongly aligned with the increasingly important circular economy.
