Lakeward launches first real estate fund
Zurich-based real estate investment boutique Lakeward is launching its first real estate fund, Lakeward Real Estate Fund (LUX) - European Opportunities I, in November 2020.
The fund's €50 million seed class is to be invested in selected projects in the first two quarters of 2021. In 2021, Lakeward plans to raise a further 130 to 150 million euros in the fund; this capital is to be allocated to different projects over a maximum period of three years.
The fund intends to invest in the redevelopment or repositioning of real estate projects in the urban regions of Europe, with a focus on Germany. According to Lakeward, the investment strategy focuses on mid-sized investment projects with a transaction value between €40 million and €150 million, long-term appreciation potential and total returns in the double-digit range.
The focus is on the urban residential, commercial and mixed-use real estate segments, with "innovative and modern usage concepts for people of all income levels," it adds. The strategy is characterized by a broadly diversified risk-adjusted return profile. (ah)
