With around 20,000 stores, KFC is one of the world's largest franchise companies. Similar to the Burger King chain, which plans to increase the number of its restaurants in Switzerland from currently 60 to over 100 in the coming years (source: Handelszeitung, July 2020), KFC is also pursuing a tight expansion course.

KFC is to set up its first branch in central Switzerland in Ebikon. According to regional media reports, the ninth branch of the fast food company, which is part of the US group Yum! Brands, a fast-food company, a separate building will be erected on the MParc site. The building application has already been submitted to the municipality, reports the Rontaler.

According to Marco Schepers, General Manager Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Denmark, up to 50 stores are planned in Switzerland. To reach this goal, 41 more KFC stores would have to be added to the existing nine. The locations for these are not yet known, but KFC says it wants to be represented in all major cities and metropolitan areas, as in other countries - in locations that are easily accessible by both public transport and car. As an interim goal, the tenth branch is to be opened in Switzerland next year.

KFC's parent company, Yum! Brands, which includes other restaurant chains such as Pizza Hut and Taco Bell, is the world's largest foodservice company, with over 41,000 restaurants in more than 125 countries. (bw)
