Major contract for Implenia in Hamburg
Implenia and its project partner Hochtief have been awarded the contract to build a 2.2-kilometer tunnel in Hamburg. The contract has a total net volume of around 580 million euros.

Allotments as well as green spaces and parks are to be created on the 2,230-metre-long Altona noise protection tunnel, which will also reconnect the two adjacent districts of Othmarschen and Bahrenfeld. At the same time, the expansion to eight lanes from the Hamburg-Othmarschen junction to Hamburg-Volkspark will close the gap to expansion projects already underway to the north and south of the Elbe tunnel on the A7.
The project is scheduled to run for eight years and is due to start in April 2021. The client is Deges Deutsche Einheit Fernstrassenplanungs und -bau GmbH, a project management company for the planning and construction of federal trunk roads. The shareholders are the German federal government and twelve federal states.
Implenia will commercially manage the project with a total order volume of around EUR 580 million net in a joint venture with Hochtief, while Hochtief has the technical lead. According to the company, Implenia's share of the total order volume is 35%. (ah)
