The Russen Housing Foundation was founded in 1969 by companies based in St. Gallen Winkeln who wanted to provide affordable housing for their employees. The sponsors are the city (40%), the Winkeln Industrial Association (30%) and the Housing Association (30%). The foundation owns a total of 286 apartments in the housing developments "Russen" in Winkeln and "Hof" in the Chräzeren area.

Christoph Solenthaler has led the Russen housing foundation for around 21 years; now the former FDP city parliamentarian and president of the HEV of the city of St. Gallen wants to hand over the reins. With Remo Daguati, another FDP exponent is now taking over the presidency. Daguati has been active for over five years with his LOC AG in the area of location promotion and site development, among other things. He announces that he wants to remain innovative and try out new forms of housing. The next few years will see the expansion and extension of the "Hof" housing estate, and the foundation also plans to build a third estate in the long term. (ah)
