On March 8, 2021, the National Council debated the revision of the Covid-19 law and related supplemental credits to the 2021 budget. Among the measures passed is a tightening of the Lex Koller.

The background: A majority in the National Council sees signs that land prices could come under pressure due to the Corona crisis and agreed to a motion which - like the Parliamentary Initiative 21.400 recently rejected by the RK-S - would like to extend the permit requirement under Lex Koller to permanent establishment land until two years after the end of the special or exceptional situation under the Epidemics Act.

In order to prevent foreign companies from taking over properties from distressed Swiss companies, such sales should be subject to approval for two years after the end of the special or extraordinary situation.

The National Council approved this amendment to the "Lex Koller" - by 113 votes to 80 with one abstention. The law now goes back to the Council of States. (bw)
