Implenia takes over BAM Swiss
Implenia has agreed with the Royal BAM Group to acquire BAM Swiss AG. The Basel-based company specialises primarily in construction projects in the healthcare sector.
The takeover was signed on 29 March 2021 and is expected to be completed on 31 May 2021, Implenia announced. The 45 employees of BAM Swiss AG are to transfer to Implenia at the time of closing. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
With the closing, Implenia will also assume responsibility for BAM Swiss's ongoing projects, it added. This concerns, among other things, the planning and realisation of the Aarau Cantonal Hospital - a project that was previously managed jointly with BAM Swiss AG and BAM Deutschland AG. In addition, the acquisition of BAM Swiss will expand the project portfolio to include the BSSE project in Basel, a modern laboratory and research building for biosystems science and engineering, as well as the Felix Platter Hospital project in Basel and an ETH student residence in Zurich.
With the sale of the Swiss company, Royal BAM Group intends to implement its strategy of concentrating on the growth markets in the Netherlands, the UK and Ireland. The company says that it has advantages of scale and competitiveness in these markets.
According to CEO André Wyss, Implenia expects the transaction to strengthen its market presence: it will become a leading provider of construction services in the healthcare sector in Switzerland, a sector with great growth potential in terms of real estate. (ah)
