Implenia wins major rail contract in Italy

Implenia, in consortium with Webuild Group, has been awarded a contract for a rail line in northern Italy. The project is worth €1.07 billion.

According to Implenia, the project involves a 22.5-kilometer section of the high-performance railroad between Fortezza and Ponte Gardena. The line connects to the Brenner rail tunnel on the Italian side of the Alps and is intended to provide faster connections and higher capacity between Munich and Verona.

The client is Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, Implenia (49%) is designing and building the project in a consortium together with Webuild Group (51%). The legally binding award of contract is subject to a 35-day objection period. (ah)
