Eberhard: New processing plant for construction waste
Eberhard Unternehmungen has opened EbiMIK - the largest processing center for construction waste in Switzerland, according to the company. The facility is intended to set a milestone in the circular economy.

The approximately 16,000-square-meter plant has been in operation for a short time and is the only one of its kind in Switzerland, the Eberhard companies say. At the heart of the plant are six robots that process mixed demolition waste for the first time: First, the materials are pre-sorted with a handling excavator and coarsely crushed with a massive sizer. Then two robot lines, each with three gripper arms, free the mineral materials from foreign substances such as plastic, gypsum, wood or light metals. The sorted secondary raw materials are then transported to the raw materials store, where they are further fractionated according to their application.
Zirkulit concrete with less CO2 emissions
Since the demand for resource-saving building materials has increased significantly, according to Eberhard Unternehmungen, the sustainable Zirkulit concrete has been available from the Ebirec building materials recycling center in Rümlang since spring 2021. The two licensees Eberhard Unternehmungen and Kästli Bau AG are also owners of the newly founded Zirkulit AG. The knowledge of the two partner companies is to contribute to the establishment of Zirkulit concrete as a future-oriented building material throughout Switzerland. Patrick Eberhard, Managing Director of Zirkulit AG: "With the new processing center for construction waste EbiMIK and Zirkulit, the most ecological concrete in Switzerland, Eberhard Unternehmungen is reaching the turning point from the recycling economy to the circular economy."
