Implenia wins major infrastructure contract in Norway
Construction and real estate services provider Implenia is to build Norway's longest railroad bridge. The contract is worth CHF 190 million.
Implenia has been commissioned by Bane NOR, the state-owned company responsible for Norwegian railroad infrastructure, to build the double-track Tangenvika railroad bridge. The project includes a prestressed concrete bridge more than one kilometer long and an approximately two-kilometer overland section with a wildlife overpass. The bridge crosses Lake Mjøsa, which is an important source of drinking water with rich wildlife. The construction should therefore be carried out with the least possible impact on the environment in and around the lake, Implenia says. For example, the storage and use of excavated material will be planned in such a way that as few transport trips as possible are required. The project will be certified with the CEEQUAL sustainability label.
Implenia further announces that the bridge will be planned and realized fully digitized with BIM models (Building Information Modeling). The project will start in the second quarter of 2022 and is expected to be completed in 2027. The total order volume is the equivalent of around CHF 190 million (1.8 billion Norwegian kroner). (ah)
