The Swedish state-owned company responsible for Stockholm's metro infrastructure has commissioned Implenia to build the connecting tunnel to the expanded Högdalen metro depot in Stockholm.

According to Implenia, the project includes the construction of infrastructure for the connection of the expanded depot to the existing Farstagrenen metro track. A new concrete tunnel and trough will be designed and built at the connection point. The rock tunnel consists of a two-kilometer-long track tunnel and a 500-meter-long underground storage area for trains.

Implenia will design and build the tunnel in accordance with CEEQUAL sustainability standards; according to the company, this was one of the client's requirements. Planning and realization will be based on a BIM model and carried out according to the Lean Construction method. (ah)
