Axa equips 200 properties with solar panels
Axa Investment Managers plans to equip more than 200 properties from Axa's real estate assets with photovoltaic systems over the next four years.

Across Switzerland, Axa's real estate portfolio, which is managed by Axa Investment Managers, comprises around 750 properties. 200 of these are to receive photovoltaic systems in the coming years.
A total of 382 solar panels covering an area of 730 square meters were recently installed at the insurer's headquarters at General-Guisan-Strasse 40 in Winterthur. According to Axa, the system on the roofs of the building, which is more than 90 years old, covers 15 percent of the property's energy consumption. There has already been a photovoltaic system on the Axa superblock at Pionierstrasse 3 since 2014, and another system will follow on the building at General-Guisan-Strasse 42 at the beginning of 2023.
In addition to its own commercial buildings, Axa is also equipping properties from its real estate portfolio with solar panels in stages. Some of these will be set up as a self-consumption association (ZEV), meaning that the residents will use the energy generated on site themselves.
The expansion of photovoltaics is one of the measures of the sustainability strategy, Axa says. In new buildings and renovations, the company is focusing on renewable energies and environmentally friendly heating systems, increasing energy efficiency, designing outdoor areas in harmony with nature, and building methods that conserve resources.
