Swiss Finance & Property Group AG continues its international expansion and establishes a subsidiary in London. Swiss Finance & Property UK is headed by Philipp Braunwalder, who previously worked for Tuner Construction.

The new subsidiary will focus on residential investments, according to a statement from Swiss Finance & Property (SFP). Initially, the focus will be on the relatively new build-to-rent sector, it said. The company will form strategic partnerships and find ways to address the undersupply of high-quality housing, SFP said. That involves creating new sustainable housing, on the one hand, and improving and remodeling existing housing stock, on the other, he said. "A good mix of core-plus and opportunistic locations is a key factor in achieving higher risk-weighted returns," SFP believes.

According to SFP, the weakening currency and a significant imbalance between supply and demand for rental properties across the UK have caught the group's attention. The asset manager sees "great opportunities to add value and mitigate inflation risk" in this environment.

In addition to its home market of Switzerland, SFP is also represented in Germany and Denmark. (ah)
