Implenia wins major contract in Norway
Together with Stangeland Maskin, Implenia is implementing a tunneling project on the west coast of Norway.

A joint venture consisting of Implenia (80%) and Stangeland Maskin (20%) has been awarded the contract for the design and construction of the E03 Boknafjord Tunnel on Norway's west coast. According to Implenia, the total contract volume is around CHF 375 million, with the Swiss company's share amounting to around CHF 300 million. Construction will begin in January and is scheduled for completion in 2030.
The project consists of an 8.6km tunnel with two tubes and a 125m road section in the daytime area, Implenia added. It is closely related to the E39 Rogfast project, one of Norway's largest infrastructure projects, which involves the construction of the world's longest and deepest underwater tunnel, it said. The E03 Boknafjord Tunnel project will start as early as this month and is scheduled for completion in 2030.
As part of the joint venture Implenia is responsible for the excavation and driving work as well as for the interior construction of the tunnel. Stangeland Maskin will be responsible for transporting the excavated material and building the road. The two companies have already built the Eiganes Tunnel together and are currently working together on the E39 Lyngdal project. (ah)
