Swiss Life completes logistics project with 86,000 sqm in Germany
Swiss Life has leased and handed over a new building to Rhenus on a 155,000 square meter port area near Duisburg.
Swiss Life Asset Managers has completed the final construction phases of an 86,000 sqm logistics center near Duisburg in Germany. The property has been let to Rhenus Warehousing Solutions. The first two construction phases were completed in March and June respectively. The location is a 155,000 square meter site at the Rhein-Lippe-Hafen in Wesel. The site for the logistics center was taken over by the DeltaPort Niederrheinhäfen port association. List Bau Nordhorn acted as general contractor. This was one of the largest logistics projects in the logistics hub of North Rhine-Westphalia, one of the most important logistics regions in Europe.
Energy storage in the building floor
"This state-of-the-art logistics center is a lighthouse project throughout Europe," says Ingo Steves, Managing Partner Logistics at Swiss Life Asset Managers. "We are setting new standards for sustainable and efficient logistics properties." Geothermal energy, photovoltaic systems and heat pumps are used to generate energy. The energy generated in this way is stored in buffer and battery storage units and at the base of the building.
In addition to ten rented hall units with a total of 86,100 square meters, the property offers 3,500 square meters of office and social space as well as 1,200 square meters of mezzanine space. (aw)
