Zurich: Apartments for the "Quadro Towers"
According to a media report, 260 apartments are to be created in the office complex in Oerlikon, which has been characterized by vacancies since Credit Suisse moved out.
The Quadro Towers in the north of Zurich are to be partially converted into apartments. According to a report in the Tages-Anzeiger newspaper, the owner BVK wants to create 260 apartments in the office complex in Oerlikon, which is still known primarily under the name "Sunrise Tower". Since the main user, Credit Suisse, moved out, the space has been largely vacant. According to the report, a planning application for the project has already been submitted. A BVK spokesperson is quoted in the Tages-Anzeiger as saying that the project involves smaller residential units. In the base building, 15,000 square meters of space for service businesses, restaurants and retail outlets are to be created by 2028.
The complex, designed by architect Max Dudler, was completed in 2005. The striking building currently offers 36,000 square meters of usable space. According to the Quadro Towers website, 11,700 square meters of office space can be rented in the basement and a further 12,200 square meters in the two towers. With heights of 73 and 88 meters, the two towers are among the tallest buildings in Zurich.
The space is marketed by CBRE. The current vacancy is due to the departure of Credit Suisse, which terminated its lease for the building the year before last (IB reported). (aw)
